Casablanca is a classical black and white film. The background of this story was early December 1941. American man Rick Blaine was the host of an upscale nightclub and it was located in Casablanca. "Rick's Café Américain" attracts different kinds customers everyday. One day Rick got two valuable America passports. Victor is in the anti-Nazi, he took his wife llsa to this cafe for ran away and he wanted to get the America passports. Rick discovered that llsa was his girlfriend in Pairs. IIsa was falling in love with Rick again. Finally, Rick decided to help llsa and her husband to run away. The story of Casablanca was happened during the Second Word War.

I would like to analysis this movie in eight aspects. Firstly, I will through the structure. Casablanca is not the narrative linear it was flashback. When llsa and her husband appeared, everything was changed. Rick recall llsa and him had a romantic but painful memory. Before they came, the old equilibrium is Rick got two America passports from a thief and he is the owner. But when they came, llsa’s husband needs that America passports to run away. When llsa use the gun and hope Rick can help her, the realisation took place. After that, Rick decide to find a way to help them run away, he decide let llsa run away with Victor and they successful. At last, Rick shoot Major Heinrich Strasser and his friend- captain Louis Renault helped him. Rick safed and they left.

Secondly, I would like to talk about characters in this film. In my opinion, Rick and llsa are the main character, because they appeared many times in this movie and the whole movie is through their love story to proceed. In this movie, Rick is a seeker hero who aids others, he is very brave, clever and make audience feel more exciting, he present in most sense and upon a quest to llsa and her husband at last. The princess of this film is llsa and her husband; they are most threatened by the villain has to be saved by the hero. The donor is the Curt Bois, he want Rick to help him kept the America passports. The helper is captain Louis Renault, he is Rick’s friend, finally he allow the Rick to help the llsa and her husband ran away, he did not deleted that Rick kill the Major Heinrich Strasser. The villain is Major Heinrich Strasser, usually creates the narrative disruption. Characters have back-stories in Casablanca. The director used narration interspersed with flashback to shoot. For example, Rick recollected that he with llsa had romantic experience in the Pairs. When Rick and llsa talked to each other and clear up misunderstanding, the content of their conversation announce some truth. All of the main characters’ motivations in this movie are clear, the director masterly through the conversation and the expression of characters, voice-over of this film to make audience understand the background of film, the relation between characters and the motivations of characters. In Casablanca, Rick sing the Marseillaise with people, it means Risk love his country; he had a sense of justice.

Thirdly, I will talk about closure. In the end of this film, there is closure. Because Rick wanted to help llsa and her husband leave successful, but Major Heinrich Strasser wanted to stop him and called to stop the plane, so Rick killed him. But Renault did not reveal Rick killed Strasser, Rick is safe and then they left.

Fourthly, it is about clarity. The story and the setting clear, audience can clearly know that this story happened in Second World War.

Fifth,it is a tragedy movie. It is quest along this journal the hero will be met with obstacles and forces trying to stop from achieving his  goal.

Sixth, the themes of this film is,  Rick had patriotic spirit.  He is very brave and great. The film implies that the fascist war is doomed to fail, justice will always overpower evil. At last, Rick gave up the opportunity to stay with llsa, choose to sacrifice his own happiness, let llsa go to America to find her own freedom. At first, llsa let Sam played'' As times goes by ''. It was the  memory between Rick and her. It is make llsa falling into memory, make the audience feel a sadness atmosphere and pave for the following part.

Seventh, it is about perspective, the film have a first person narrative. Rick's perspectives is the narrative restricted to. Perspective can performance the mood and show the characters' inner work.

Finally, Rick's decisions and actions drive the narrative. He also need to overcome all problems, and he succeed. In the film, llsa come to find Rick and tell him the truth, all of the problems between them were solved. In the film, at fist, llas's husband want to get the American passport and finally Rick decided to help them.
